How much storage space do offline maps require on my phone or tablet?

Downloading offline maps requires a considerable amount of storage space. As a reference, a map covering 5 nautical miles can take up about 25 MB of space. Therefore, we recommend that you only download the maps you truly need access to offline, such as areas where you know the connectivity may be poor.

The reason offline maps require a lot of storage space is that they consist of multiple small images that are combined into detailed and zoomable maps.

If you need to free up space on your phone, we recommend deleting the offline maps you no longer need.
